Cookie Policy
Ujima uses the cookies it needs to keep you signed in and keep forms safe, plus Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. No advertising.

What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Ujima uses them for one purpose: to recognise you between pages once you have signed in, and to confirm that a form was submitted by a person.
Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, there is nothing to opt in or out of on this page. You can still block or delete cookies in your browser (see below), but if you do, signing in will not work.
Cookies & Tracking We Use
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These are needed for Ujima to work and cannot be switched off. They are set only when you sign in or use a protected form.
What this covers:
- Sign-in session cookies set by Clerk, our authentication provider, so you stay signed in between pages
- A short-lived verification token from Cloudflare Turnstile when you submit the contact, feedback or support form, so we can tell people from bots
Preference Storage
A small amount of local storage (not a cookie) keeps display choices on your device. It is never sent to us.
What this covers:
- Your light or dark theme choice
- The items in a pickup cart while you are putting an order together
Analytics Cookies
Google Analytics tells us which pages people visit and how they find Ujima, so we can improve it. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, staff pages are not measured, and private links (invites, unsubscribe and referral links, and email addresses in links) are stripped before anything is sent.
What this covers:
- Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) that count visits and pages viewed
- Block them with your browser’s cookie settings or Google’s opt-out add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout); the site works the same without them
What We Do Not Use
Advertising cookies
We do not use advertising pixels, retargeting or any third-party ad network.
If that changes, we will update this page and the Privacy Policy before anything new is switched on.
Third-Party Cookies
A small number of services we rely on may set their own cookies, only when you use the feature they power:
- Clerk: sign-in and session cookies when you create an account or sign in
- Cloudflare Turnstile: bot protection on the contact, feedback and support forms
- Stripe: fraud prevention during checkout, only when you buy a ticket, a plan or a pickup order
Each of these has its own privacy and cookie policy that describes how it uses that data.
How to Manage Cookies
Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. You can typically:
- View and delete cookies
- Block third-party cookies
- Block all cookies
- Delete all cookies when you close your browser
Note: Blocking cookies for this site will stop sign-in from working. Browsing, searching and the map do not need cookies at all.
Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when our practices change or for legal reasons. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
